Product type – hydroactive colloid gel which can be used for nil to moderately exuding wounds.

Principle function – Flamigel® aids in promoting a moist wound environment for dry to moderately exuding wounds. For dry wounds, the hydrogel component moistens the dry tissue  and promotes autolytic Debridement. For moist wounds, the hydrocolloid component of Flamigel® is activated and absorbs excess moisture, therefore promoting an ideal wound healing environment.

Recommended use – Flamigel® is indicated for superficial burns and minor wounds (e.g. grazes& cuts). Flamigel® may also be used in open, superficial wounds (such as pressure sores, based on medical advice). Apply a thin layer of Flamigel® only.

Frequency of dressing change – Flamigel can be applied to a superficial graze or burn without covering with a secondary dressing. It can be applied 1-2 times per day or in the case of sunburn, up to 6 times per day. When there has been a substantial break in the skin, Flamigel® should be applied, with a secondary dressing also. This dressing regime should be changed every 1-2 days.

Precautions – Flamigel® is for external use only. Do not use if there is any known sensitivities to any ingredient. Should Flamigel® come in contact with the eye, ensure the eye is rinsed thoroughly with running water and consult a doctor.

Contraindications – if there are any signs of excessive exudate from the wound or clinical signs of infection, seek professional  advice before commencing Flamigel® as alternative therapies may be more appropriate. Flamigel® should not be used on the eyelids. Seek advice regarding the use of Flamigel® if breast feeding.

Precautions & Contraindications – Should the skin become macerated or a rash occur, remove the dressing and allow the skin to recover until the symptom has disappeared. Reapply the dressing gradually increasing the time that the dressing is left in position each day. If the symptoms persist, discontinue use and consult a physician for advice.
