Product type – Hydrofilm® Plus is a self-adhesive island film dressing.

Principle function – A self-adhesive, transparent wound dressing with an absorbent pad, low adhesive and hypoallergenic wound dressing pad. The dressing features a semi-permeable polyurethane film, which is waterproof and impermeable to germs. It can be removed without wound irritation.

Recommended use– Hydrofilm® Plus is used as a primary dressing to cover post operative and trauma wounds or as a secondary dressing for retention purposes.

Frequency of dressing change – Hydrofilm® Plus can be left on for up to 7 days, depending on the level of exudate.

Principle function OpSite* Flexigrid* is a transparent, adhesive film, with a unique wound measurement grid. The film is moisture vapour permeable, conformable and extensible.

Recommended use It is clinically proven to provide moist wound healing for superficial wound ideal for use as a secondary dressing and to help prevent pressure sores. These dressings are  to manage superficial, minimally exuding wounds and in the case of stage 1 pressure ulcers, offer protection against friction and shearing forces.

Frequency of dressing change – It can stay intact for several days up to a week depending on the level of wound exudate.

Precautions OpSite Flexigrid may be used on clinically infected wounds if the following precautions are followed: – The patient should be undermedical/clinical supervision, the dressing should be changed daily and the patient should be receiving suitable systemic treatment. Immuno-compromised patients and diabetic patients may require extra supervision. Care should be taken to avoid skin damage by repeated applications on patients with thin or fragile skin.

Contraindications Film dressings are not suitable for full thickness, infected or moderate to highly exuding wounds. In common with all adhesive products, some cases of irritation and/or maceration of the skin surrounding the wound have been reported. It should be noted that inappropriate use or too frequent dressing changes, particularly in patients with fragile skin, can result in skin stripping.
