Product type – 3M™ Coban™ 2 Layer Compression System consists of an inner comfort layer and an outer compression layer that are fast and easy to apply.

Principle function – A comfortable, 2 Layer easy to apply compression system that delivers sustained, therapeutic compression for the treatment of venous leg ulcers and related conditions such as lower leg oedema. After application, the two layers cohere together, providing comfortable, effective compression. This thin, lightweight system allows patients to wear normal footwear.

Recommended use – For the treatment of oedema associated with venous leg ulcers and related conditions.

  • Coban 2 2094 is suitable for patients with venous leg ulcers with an ABPI 0.8 and above
  • Coban 2 Lite 2794 is suitable for patients with mixed aetiology ulcers with an ABPI 0.5 and above

Coban 2 Layer Compression System may be worn up to 7 days – Single use only.

Precautions – Refer to instructions for use insert.

Contraindications – Any allergies to surgical tapes.  Please refer to the instructions.

Product type – The self-adherent elastic wrap that functions like a tape, but sticks only to itself (no need for pins or clips).

Principle function – Maintains degree of compression you chose over time, protects primary dressings, the wrap will not slip so no need for frequent readjustment. Product is supplied as 2 metres unstretched – equates to 4.5m fully stretched.

Recommended use – Post-op leg wrap, securing IVs and other devices, partial immobilisation, compression bandage.

Frequency of dressing change – Monitor area frequently (no less than every 24 hours) for signs of swelling, discoloration, pain, numbness, tingling, or other changes in sensation.  If these symptoms occur, remove wrap immediately and contact your health care provider.

Precautions – This product contains natural rubber latex which may cause allergic reactions.  DO NOT place Coban self-adherent wrap in direct contact with an open wound because it may lead to infection.  When used as a component in a compression wrap system, it is important to ensure adequate arterial blood flow to avoid injury secondary to decreased circulation.   Coban self-adherent wrap should be used as a component of a compression wrap system only under the supervision of a wound care specialist.  Do Not Reuse.  Reuse may result in compromising product integrity and/or lead to device failure.  Please refer to the instructions.

Principal function – The Carolon Stocking is an easy-to-wear Compression Garment with two-way stretch which aids in the prevention of deep vein thrombosis post surgery.

Recommended use – Carolon Stockings should be considered if the patient is likely to be immobile for several days or undergoing lengthy surgery. Inpatients having surgery should be offered thigh-length graduated compression/anti-embolism stockings from the time of admission to hospital.

Recommended use – Elset and Elset ‘S’ have visual application guides along the midline of the bandage to aid in application. Elset is used in the Charing Cros Four Layer Bandage technique in managing venous leg ulcers. Apply in a figure of eight over the ankle, then 50% overlap up the limb. Can be left in place for a number of days, depending on slippage and underlying dressings if applicable.

Precautions –  Ensure ankle circumference is >18cm. Consult with a health professional if you are unsure if compression is appropriate.
